Who we are

Carvalho and Good (CGLA) is an award-winning landscape architecture and urban design firm creating inviting, enduring, and sustainable environments.  Based out of Washington, D.C. with a location in Miami, FL, CGLA translates 26 years of experience into a diverse array of projects including schools, federal, historic, parks/ recreation, and multi-family residential.

Our Philosophy: As landscape architects and designers we begin with an understanding of each site.   We move forward with great care towards sustainability and collaboration to balance our design approach with sound technical knowledge, historical foundations, and innovative instincts.  Our design style is one of response to the unique challenges presented by each project.  We engage the physical and technical requirements of a project and create opportunities for human and social interactions. We aim to design spaces in which our lives are conducted and to that end, create inviting, enduring, and sustainable environments.

"Truly great planners instinctively know what makes a great place.  They reach beyond conventional planning to cultivate sustainability, aesthetics, economics, and overall great urbanism. CGLA has those instincts, and combined with their technical expertise, know how to create a balance between innovative vision and buildable outcomes. We continue to engage them whenever we can.”
